More appointments and tests!

So once I had sorted out all my health issues, or at least tried to, I was now a little more comfortable with moving forward with this process. Starting with a new referral from my new doctor. I got an appointment. The first one of these was in February so things were finally starting to happen. I was excited, but also nervous.

But the Fertility Specialist (FS) at Genea, Dr Tween Low, was lovely. Easy to talk to. And had no issue with a single woman trying for a baby via sperm donor. I will admit, I was worried about what they may say. But I didn’t have to worry. So we ordered more blood tests as well as a HyCoSy ultrasound. Just to check that everything was ok there. She explained the process and everything.

But let me tell you now, the HyCoSy ultrasound was not much fun. Now, this may not be the case for everyone, so I’m just going to explain the experience for me. This website gives some details about what it is. I knew already this was an internal ultrasound. No issues with that. What I didn’t realise was that it would hurt. It was like a very intense and long cramp. But they were also pushing done on my ovaries. Let’s just say not fun. They tell you to take ibuprofen and paracetamol before going there. I only took one of them. I felt faint and sick afterwards, but got home, had another pain killer and went for a snooze. After that, I was ok. So didn’t last too long, and I know, nothing compared to childbirth, but it still wasn’t nice!

Anyway, the outcome of this was good. I apparently have a nice cavity (sounds so wrong!), and still have follicles. Yay! And blood tests came back good too. Iron and Thyroid still need to be worked on but nothing stopping me from going ahead. Of course, the FS wanted me to lose some weight. Something I was really struggling with, despite doing all the right things. Damn hormones just keep screwing my body up. But I was on the way! Finally.
